How to bulk edit products in Shopify
In your Shopify admin, go to Products, tick the products you want to change, and click Bulk edit. Shopify opens a table with one row per product or variant; add the columns you need, type the new values, and click Save. For larger changes you can export your products to a CSV file, edit it, and import it again.
Use the bulk editor
- From your Shopify admin, click Products.
- Use the checkboxes to select each product that you want to edit.
- Click Bulk edit.
- Click Columns and select the properties you want to change, such as price, SKU or compare-at price.
- Click a cell and type the new value. To fill many cells with one value, select them and edit the outlined cell, or drag a cell's fill handle across the cells below.
- Click Save. If Shopify reports invalid values, fix them and click Save again.
Use a CSV file for bigger changes
Export your products, change the file in a spreadsheet such as Google Sheets, and import it with Overwrite products with matching handles selected. Shopify's help center notes that an import can't be cancelled once it starts, that a blank cell in an included column overwrites the value with a blank, and that you should keep a backup of your product data first.
Things to know
- The more you change at once, the longer the save takes.
- For a product with several variants, inventory can be bulk edited only from the Inventory section.
- The bulk editor sets values that you type. Changes such as "raise every price by 10%" or "replace a word in every title" mean working each value out yourself, or using an app.
Edit by rule, with a preview and undo
Lever picks products by collection, tag, vendor, type, status or price, and applies a rule to all of them: a percentage price change, a find and replace, tags to add or remove, and more. It shows every old and new value before anything changes, keeps the old values, and undoes the whole edit in one click.
