How to raise or lower prices by a percentage in Shopify

Shopify's bulk editor sets the values you type, so for a percentage change you work out each new price first: export your products to a CSV file, calculate the new prices in a spreadsheet, and import the file again. An app such as Lever applies the percentage for you, with rounding, a preview and undo.

With a CSV file

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products and export the products you want to change.
  2. Open the file in a spreadsheet such as Google Sheets.
  3. In a new column, multiply each Variant Price by the change (for example, 1.1 for +10%), round it, and copy the results over the Variant Price column.
  4. Keep a copy of the original file as your backup.
  5. Import the file with Overwrite products with matching handles selected.

Before you import

  • An import can't be cancelled once it begins, and Shopify keeps no history of past imports.
  • In an included column, a blank cell overwrites the value with a blank.
  • Sorting the file in Excel or Numbers can break the image links of your products.
  • Changing the Option value columns deletes the variants' IDs and creates new ones.

With Lever

Choose the products by collection, tag, vendor, type or price range. Choose Price, then Increase by % or Decrease by %, and a rounding such as nearest .99. Lever shows each variant's old and new price before anything changes, and you can undo the edit later with one click. It works the same way for compare-at prices and cost per item.
